Before he embarked on his career as a television commercials film director, Warren was a multiple award-winning offline editor highly regarded as one of the best in the region. Eleven years ago he made the big switch, turning his love for films to directing television commercials.
His years as an editor saw him winning every major editing award in the region. Work he had edited was featured at least seven times in Shots and his years of experience were also behind the cuts and dissolves of numerous award-winning commercials in Asia.
As a director he has benefited from this invaluable experience and is often able to envisage the cut even before he embarks on shooting the tvc. Added to this his ability to tell a story simply, often spicing it up with subtle humour and with his versatility, Warren has established himself as a favourite of creatives.
Highly sought after for his ability to work with talents of all nationalities and races, Warren is naturally easy going. Stemming from his demeanour he is able to put talents at ease and this enables him to elicit strong emotional performances from his cast.
Working with the same flair and dedication that has served him well all these years, Warren is now strongly entrenched as one of the notable directors in Singapore and his reputation in the regional market has been growing constantly. In each of the past five years his work for agencies has consistently won golds, silvers and bronzes at the Singapore CCAs, Phoenix Awards, Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame and other award shows separating him clearly from the pack: his work on Y&R’s Prisons campaign (2002), Lowe’s Ikea Baby (2003), Y&R’s Brands (2004), Army L.I.V.E. for Mandate (2006), Aviva Ironman, Grey Worldwide’s Wyeth Gold (2007) and Haier (2008) and his work as part of an integrated campaign for MTV exit won a Silver at the 2008 CCA. Wins for him in 2009 came at the Phoenix awards for his work on the Singapore International Film Festival (2009) and his campaign for Y&R’s OCBC won Cable Campaign of the year. His work for a DDB digital campaign for UNIFEM “Call for Help” contributed to Silver and Bronze Spikes and finalist at Cannes.
In 2010 amongst the work he has directed was a brand tvc for CitiBank, a regional campaign for Oral B and the latest series of Singapore Army television commercials. He also directed a very unique Vicks “Throats” ad for Indonesia that was purpose made to flight during the Ramadan period last year. He has just completed a tvc promoting the HSBC Women’s Golf Championship to be held in Singapore as well as a project for TBWA Shanghai.
This year Warren has been busy in China between his work on an MDA social campaign on online gaming as well as shooting the latest campaign for the Singapore Army, making it the third consecutive campaign he has directed for the Army account.
